City Voice
The City speaks in sand. As it talks, the sand on the plate draws what it is talking about, then settles back into the mark.
Tap the plate to knock it. A voice note stays on your device.
Ask the City
Ask anything. The City answers aloud and the sand draws what it is talking about. Ask the way somewhere, and the ring fills towards the turn, like a bike computer.
Typed questions are answered live by Claude, on your own Claude account; the first one asks your permission. The examples use set replies.
Tune the plate
Plays each eight-fold figure at its own resonant note, lowest first.
What is new
The City now answers. Type a question and Claude replies in the City’s voice, within the URUK lexicon, with a topic the sand then draws. While it thinks, the mark turns and a light runs round the ring. Ask the way somewhere and the plate becomes a guide: you at the centre, the route ahead in orange, and the rim filling from straight ahead towards the turn as you reach it.
- Real
- The plate figures, as in the first sketch. The masterplan footprints, traced from the ATI 50% concept master plan.
- Real
- The mark at rest is the URUK symbol from the brand file: four long points, four short, and eight notches.
- Sketch
- The phone, tablet, buggy, door, sun and cup are simple line drawings, not designs. Layla and the lit home are examples.
- Sketch
- The routes are illustrative and sped up: the streets are not designed yet. The spoken voice is your device’s own, a stand-in.
What could come next
Real routes once the street plan exists, with the buggies following the same ring. The City’s own voice, so the plate hears the real speech. It could remember who it is talking to, with the dotted ring filling as their Circle grows, and follow the city itself: light by time of day, sand drifting with the live wind, and stillness at prayer times.
Sand physics after FREQ, the sound-to-sand app by Leefa6. Voice: Imogen, a stand-in until the City's own voice is chosen. Second sketch, 7 October 2026.
